Registration Desk

Upon arrival, make sure you get your parking permit, register, return to your vehicle and place the permit on the dash and then return to unload your gear. On Friday, registration will take place in the foyer of the Earp Residence as in prior years. On Saturday, registration will take place in our meeting rooms in the geology lab (MCD 308 / 309).

Accommodations

Accommodation is available in one of the Student Residences.  The accommodations are inexpensive and modest, rooms with a single bed (single occupancy). A bathroom is shared with another room.  Please be mindful of not locking your neighbor out of the bathroom when you are not using it! Many regular attendees bring their own pillow and towel. A buffet breakfast is available in the DeCew Dining Hall located next door to the residence. If you prefer something else for breakfast, there is a Tim Horton’s and a McDonalds a short walk across the street from the campus and other restaurants are nearby.

If you’d rather stay in a hotel, the Four Points Sheraton at 3530 Schmon Parkway, Thorold, Ontario L2V 4Y6 is only a few minutes away.  Their website is here

If you have not attended our Symposium before (or have missed a few), we’d love to have you join us!  For maximum enjoyment, we recommend that you bring a stereo microscope but even if you don’t the Symposium provides a great way to meet people who share your collecting interest and to learn more about micro minerals.  We’ve tried to provide full information on these pages to describe our Symposium in detail.

Other Features

Giveaway Table – micro mineral collectors are known for their generosity as evidenced by the vast amount of specimen material shared with other attendees. Please include labels that identify the locality and minerals available. The giveaway tables will be available Saturday and Sunday. This is a great way to share extra material you have and to add to your collection.
Sales Room – Another option is to bring your surplus material and sell it in the Sales Room.  Please make sure your items are clearly identified as being yours and you have a simple pricing scheme.  You can drop off your sales material in the designated room and the material will be offered for sale on your behalf. You receive 100% of the proceeds but we do ask that you donate at least one item for the auctions (with 100% of the proceeds to the club).

Auctions – The silent auction will be held Saturday morning and the voice auction will be Saturday evening at the Banquet.  Proceeds are shared with 50% to the donor and 50% to the club. Please donate materials for the auction and also please bid.
